On May 14, E3 Cluster hosted an informational meeting at Leichtag property on Saxony Road to share progress made on a traffic calming plan for Saxony Road and Quail Gardens Drive. A draft of the concept plan presented at the meeting included traffic engineers’ recommendations based on concerns and ideas that neighbors voiced during two workshops in April. City of Encinitas staff viewed a draft of the plan in advance and representatives attended the meeting. Over 40 neighbors showed up to see the newest recommendations in an open house-style meeting that used enlarged maps to illustrate main traffic calming concerns, neighbors’ ideas and traffic calming experts’-recommended solutions. Neighbors were able to explore each map, ask questions about specific components of the concept plan and receive answers from the traffic experts. In a survey, attendees ranked their level of support for each traffic calming measure to provide feedback for a final draft of the plan. Results of the survey will also be made available to the City of Encinitas to share the degree to which neighbors support each element of the plan. If you are a neighbor who was unable to attend the meeting and would like to provide your opinion on the concept, email email@example.com with the subject line “Traffic Calming Survey.” The current traffic calming plan for each street can be viewed at the following links: Saxony Road and Quail Gardens Drive.
Next steps in the process will be refining the plan based on neighbor feedback before presenting to the City. E3 Cluster expects to make the initial presentation to City Council sometime in the fall and will keep neighbors updated on the progress as they go.
Thanks once again to all E3 Cluster neighbors for their time and energy helping us develop traffic calming solutions that will better the neighborhood we all love.
